The Light of Fame (Flashback Narrative) Part 1

" Two years ago in 6th grade I was an 11 year old Asian that had the light of fame on me. Three years back in 5th grade in 2007 I won the school geography bee but failed to make it to state because I failed the state qualifying test and knew that this year was my last chance to succeed. I knew that I had to make it not fail this time because my goal was to succeed in something no one has ever accomplished until now. I was the type of individual who wanted to march my way to the top and one who seeks glory, and honor."

Two Years ago

Somewhere in January 2009
Age 11

6th Grade

I'm sitting down in a room thinking to myself. This is it, you get to fulfill what has to be done. I'm walking down a hallway and people passing by and saluting. I've had many of my fellow classmates wish me luck. This was my last chance and I knew that if I blew it that it shall be an ever remaining scar that shall never be healed or filled for my entire lifetime. I enter a room with 29 other participants 10 from 6th grade including myself. 10 from 5th grade and 10 from 4th grade. I thought to myself this is gonna be one long battle but it is an honor being surrounded by people who know such hard knowledge like myself. Judges came into the room and I thought to myself "Let's go".
What happened that day was an accomplishment not what I won. Before I left my classroom I vowed to come back victorious. It has been a year since my first victory and now I shall win again. With confidence I entered the room and knew this is it.This was going to be one of the most absolute hardest geographical battles I shall ever face. There were 1-7 rounds. Great 7 rounds of nervousness, torture, patience and a round where I roll the dice of fate. I powered my way through rounds 1-5 with the hope of fearing no problems that shall slow me down. Rounds 6 and 7 were proven to my opponents how skilled I was and comparing if I had what it took. From rounds 6-7 in the entire geography bee I watched as many of my opponents were brilliant contestants giving it everything they had. And finally it was down to me and a fellow competitor one that fought strong, well and fierce and that was no other then Austin Baylor. He was one of my biggest rivalries that I've ever encountered. He was smart, tall and basically matched me intelligence wise. It was down to us two and we fought fiercely giving everything I had. After three questions I won, it was a battle of seriousness, intelligence and heart and soul. I returned back to my quarters and finally regrouped with my class as I spoke of my victory I was engulfed in a feeling that I was no stranger to. As I age from time to time the feeling tries to deceive me and transform a person I realize I shall never become. I knew that I had to take the test in the next step where if my performance was brilliant I shall advance to state. I looked through the test and saw 70 questions. 70! I knew that my success rate was 2-1 I knew that one false move and I just murdered my chance of state. I was given one hour. After 45 long painful minutes I finished and the results would come back two months later in March. In March on Friday the 13th I received an envelope, I opened it and I couldn't believe it.

Blackened

The bloody battle of the Q-Steins and the Nibelians came to and end. But really what happened afterward, well lets just say something horrible and traumatic was about to happen to the soldiers again. It was raining on a Sunday. It has been 5 years after that bloody week long battle. The soldiers still haunted from that memory that remained. The priest showed up and it was time to mourn all of the loved ones many soldiers have lost. The rain made conditions bleak, gloomy and depression. Before all this madness even started many soldiers were thinking with the many souls still at peace they've had their lives cut out from them forever. Many of the bodies buried were the bodies of 20-30 year old men. Men who were strong, loving and caring and had a will that shall never give up no matter how bad and dark times are. Trudging along past each grave each and every soldier vowed that their lifelong goal and that was to get married grow old with their spouse and watch their kids surpass them. But with war grabbing them by the throat they knew that they were either a shot away from death or one stab away from death.
Each night it was a nightmare either the same nightmare that repetition is forcing upon them or it is the sounds of death of relatives, loved ones and even children. Many woke up in the middle of the night and sat under the stars wondering what shall their future hold for them will it be bright or will it be as black as the war that has claimed the lives of the old, the young and the weak. Torture for many individuals began at boot camp where they met their demanding officers and they knew from that day onwards they shall do what ever they command or else get shot by the officers. In boot camp living conditions were terrible they only had to eat lunch for about 3 minutes or sprint up a mountain carrying rocks the size of chairs. They were told a quote by their officers and that was "The pain and suffering you are feeling now shall only get worse once you come face to face with the enemy". And so after years of grueling training the Nibelians headed out to go battle the Q-Steins. First day they left camp they already encountered heavy resistance when they approached the town of Rivagerders. Every shot, drop of blood etc piercing not only their earthly bodies but their souls as well. They used their knowledge which matched the firepower of the Q-Steins but in the end it was an equal match and both had the same thought in their heads, fight to the death. Fellow Soldiers were watching their comrades being cut open, intestines, blood and screams. It was a horror/ puppet show and they were the main characters. They knew that somewhere the enemy commanders was standing at a window looking outside laughing and sat back down and said it has begun.
Pain and suffering can be a physical and mental thing. It kills us all inside. Pain and suffering is one of the many steps of having the wall built. Even though the wall is being built in its early stages like this it is easy to dig your way out and destroy the wall before it destroys you.

Death the end of the line

The wall can tear you up and batter your soul until you’re at the point where you can barely crawl out. But the wall was not meant to kill you but to destroy you from within. The bleeding hearts from the many causalities of the wall look back upon the good life they've had. And when death comes they think to themselves this is it. As they fade to black they see the light coming towards them and they start to get frantic. They wonder should I run away or advance and see my fate. For many it's when they reach death and when the wall is finally torn down. Many souls fear death for they question if they'll end up in heaven or possibly hell. For many souls before they leave their Earth Bodies they must past the trial. The trial decides if they shall end up in heaven or hell. For many who are in the trial there is no official judge. But really the judge is themselves and it's always against their better judgment when they'll feel like if they'll end up in heaven or hell.
No one can blame them for the merciful fate they shall suffer. But the question is why? Why would give themselves the opposite of what they should expect. For many as they reflect on their lives they notice things in their lives where they feel they should deserve consequences. It leaves them torn and shall scar them for eternity. After the trial they enter another room but there are two doors. One says Heaven on the right and the other says hell. But really the one that says heaven is really the gateway to hell. And the one that says hell ends up being the door into heaven. Why? Why would they switch it around like that? During the Trial there must be and justice for all. In the Trial many don't noticed that while they're speaking out against their actions they are being detected for saying false statements to deceive the jury. The trial shall assure that neither side shall win even in most rare and severe cases. But in the end death comes instantaneously in his holding cell a soul was having thoughts of his own trial. He waited till daybreak and then it was time. He watched as many other brave souls went out of the room and wondered what shall happen to them. And so he thought of his own trial. And so the soul was prosecuted of murdering a 69 year old man. And so after the hearing by the trial he was sentenced to heaven many were shocked but when it came to the two doors he chose the wrong one and ended up in hell. Why am I dying? He questioned that but in the end he was given a chance to redeem himself and he made it to heaven. The way to redeem yourself into heaven was simple. Beat the Devil in some kind of competition and you made it. The soul chose Bowling because while the soul was alive he was a professional. After the most brutal scarring games the soul won. And He went to Heaven.
Many souls fear death. They question themselves their fate but in the end it's always doing the right true thing and that's how their true fate is decided. Not from making excuses or such just finding your way and having patience

The wall of sheer insanity

Isolation, separation and a wall where there’s no wait to crawl yourself out of. Who would want to place themselves in? `Imagine the thought of it, no connection to the outside world or possibly absolutely anything. The sheer madness of it will drive anybody to the point of agony where the individual will want to put themselves out of their misery. Imagine what the victim may be thinking and experiencing walking up and down and along the wall. No cracks, footholds or even one side of contact on this wall. For one girl this wall was already complete she was surrounded no way out she had thoughts to herself such as what can I do now? How will I get out? Can anybody hear me? Should I cry out?
The girl was trapped all alone she knew there was no hope at all. She even wondered is there anybody out there? The only processions this isolated girl had was her consciousness and her soul. Inside her she was screaming but nobody can hear her. Nobody had ever thought to rescue her out of the darkness. Many who were outside the wall questioned themselves such as who is behind it? Will she be able to make it out of there alive? And why did we cause such a tragedy? The girl was trapped in the intestines of isolation forever. Many never cared to bother with her nor even said a word to her. Even travelers in the hallways that she didn’t know didn’t even say a word towards her either. But why what molded her into public enemy number one? The girl was roaming among a society where if you had a group to tag along with that you are safe from the clutches of the wall. Well for this girl she had a group but after her horrific incident that made her dream all nightmare long it became clear that she couldn’t save herself. And with all the hatred being spewed at her what more she could do? With everything coming into affect it seem as though each disaster for this girl was like another brick for the wall to be nearing completion.
How was this wall created anyway? The faithful day shall stay with this girl forever. The faithful day the day it happened. It was the usual case of a high school party where everybody got drunk and something terrible was bound to happen. The girl’s name was Melinda. Melinda was a high school freshman who was naïve and very foolish person. In every case for a man that man has a perfect chance to either hook up or possibly make acquaintances. But in every party there’s always a predator on the prowl. Seeking and hunting for prey the right size that’ll satisfy the predator’s hunger. For Andy Evans a high school senior Melinda was perfect. Andy was successful on isolating Melinda. But instantaneously Melinda realized something was wrong. She was being rapped. It was as though the predator was making her lunch. She called for help but ended up calling for the authorities. And so when the drunk party goers heard sirens they made a break for it. And soon after the wall was built to trap Melinda forever in darkness that was imprisoning her.
Many consider the wall to separate people from each other. But the wall was really meant to destroy us physically and mentally. It hurts the ones that we’re close to, ones that we love even those who shall remain with us for the rest of our lives. Many people don’t realize that once the wall has taken its place that shall be the last time you shall see the outside world ever again.

Life Changing Wars

On top of a hill bodies fill the fields that the survivors see, blood and maggot ridden corpse's liter the fields as far as their eyes can see. On top of the hill was a flag that was planted in the ground. On one side of the flag a corpse hand grabbed the flag while on the other a dead soldier reached for the flag. Wind blew the flag around as the battle finally ended. The flag was riddled with holes and had nearly ripped in half. The flag just grasping the pole so then it doesn't fall down onto the corpses. Soldiers from both sides look upon the fields then they looked up at the sky. The sky was that of an orange sunset and as the sun was setting soldiers were beginning to dig graves of what seemed like an endless war cemetery. Endless rows upon rows of war graves from all the bodies that littered the field. The soldiers in their camps that night didn't sleep well. The traumatic experience they had today left them broken beaten and scarred. The sounds of their death clocks are ticking away. They keep the same thoughts in mind and that is, how am I going to die? When am I going to die? Will I die honorably? Later that night Artillery fire and bombs sounded off in the distance and the soldiers slept horribly most soldiers were dreaming all nightmare long. And soon they ended up waking up in the middle of the night. The foul stench of maggot ridden corpses soon filled the air. Death is in the air and the soldiers knew that at some point they're going to be dead like all the brave souls that have fallen
The commanders were demanding telling the soldiers whatever they said that they shall obey. For the soldiers knew that with each and every command that hell was getting closer and destroying their minds piece by piece. At the hospital tent in the soldier's camp they see beds full of soldiers either a bloody mess or missing limbs. The horrific madness of it all killed their spirits inside but they knew that the slaughter shall never end. It seems as everyday they have to obey the call of duty. The battle that caused the madness kept replaying forever in each soldiers mind and this is what they saw.
It was dawn that day. The soldiers were in their camps at the base on the other side of the hill. they had two observers at the top of the hill in a tower because the country was at war. It was between the Q-Steins a group who teamed up with the Nazi's and just like them used Blitz tactics to conquer all. And on the other side was the Nibelians. The Nibelians came from the island of Nibelia which was taken over by the Q-Steins in a matter of hours. And so as the Q-Steins approached the Nibelians opened fire. After the first shot from the Nibelians the Q-Steins charged the hill. Machine gun fire and the sounds of death surrounded the souls of each soldier on both sides. And soon after the Nibelians charged as well bayonets, bullets and even the skies had the color of blood on them. Finally after the bloodiest 168 hours it finally ended the flags were planted but the flag bearers from both sides were shot and so it was a stalemate.
The survivors up till now look back haunted even up to their senior years
by the memory that remained of what happened that day and how it destroyed them physically and mentally but made their soul stronger.

Creeping death

March 14th 1943
Tumorinica

"Tango Fort Sector one what is your status?"

"We're being pinned down by artillery and mg fire requesting for immediately air strike!"

"Tango Fort Sector one we have receive your coordinates and we're coming in low hit the deck boys"

"We have to hold on until air support arrives!"

"But sir are division is almost wiped out how can we hold out here until the fly boys come?"

"Well we keep fighting or die trying! We were born for dying"

We've been fighting in this town for a while. Everyday the more resistance we receive the more worn down we have become. We have lost many fellow comrades. But this is the enemies last stand by the time we take this town the mighty Tumiorast Empire shall fall. We were fighting in the Capitol of this empire and we've pushed the enemy back from the Shawee river in our capitol of Phonesville 150 Miles away. And now the Tumiorast soldiers are finally at their breaking point. Out of nowhere the Tumiorast's launched a missile air strike coming out of their Parliament and Capitol building. Finally the fly boys came and cleared out the place making 6 bombing runs over the city. Zombies came out of the ground. The Zombies were created in a lab in an effort to Produce and cut down on the number of soldiers out on the front. Enemy zombies were dealt with immediately. A zombie lunged onto my back and started eating away at my flesh. I started to fade as no one came to help me. I felt as thought Death was creeping one me. Starting at my legs and working it's way upwards towards my brain. Again I say my last words remark about the good life I've had. Pray for safety of my wife and three children and then lay down and die. But a fellow comrade kills the zombie and treats me immediately.

"Tumoinica is finally our we did it"

"We have lost many brave men"

"But at least private Von Haller saved general Phattaphone from Creeping death"

"How about this Private. Corporal Von Haller receving The Medal of Honor"

The Plague of St. Anger

As St. Anger watches upon us he hides in the shadows waiting to Plague someone with nonstop anger. He is often pleased if he claims another victim to plague with Maniacal rage that can never be stopped. Smashing through the boundary's lunacy has found me cannot stop the battery. The Frantic feeling of St Anger's plague is unstoppable. He is like a master of puppets once he controls you your now his servant. You will do what he says. You will die when he says you must die. There is no cure to the anger. The only way you can stop yourself is finding a way out before you become the puppet

Back to the Front

May 20th 1942

There's Machine gun fire all around me. I watch everywhere as my fellow comrades are being shot all around me. In my head there was a clock ticking in my head. I was wondering if I am going to die. And if so I just want the clock to stop ticking. Frantic tick tick tick tick. That was what was ringing in my head. For sure I thought I was going to die. And then I got hit by a bullet. I said my last words and knew that my fate was death or merciful. I played dead as enemy troops walked past me. Mud hitting my face with every step the enemy took. Right when I though I was gonna die American Bombers cam and cleared the place. More dirt and mud splattered on my face. I'm dead I thought but then a Corpsman came an helped me out of the ground. I was patched up and was givin an M1919 A4 Browning Machine Gun. I was then told we gonna raid a town called Tumorinica. And then our Truck left. During the ride there I was asked by a recruit what's it like to head back to the front? I simply told him barking of gunfire will mean nothing to you by the time your done with 5 battles at least if you live.

Patriotism

Patriotism would be showing one's love for his/her own country. Whether it's Painting your face with the colors of your nations flag to putting a flag out in front of your house during Independence Day. Patriotism can also be shown by supporting troops overseas to helping your local pantry. Even in the darkest days of our nation we still had hope to progress forward. On 9/11 we were shocked by the events but we knew what had to be done. During Pearl Harbor we knew that we couldn't sit around we had to go to war. During times of war 20-30 year old men joined up hoping to serve his country and bring hope, prosperity and safety to people overseas and at home. Patriotism also means taking action about a situation. Showing pride, dignity and honor to others. Leading the way forward with hopes of a bright future. But for these men it meant back to the front. Everyday and night the sounds of men dying civilians, and weapon and artillery all ring through the minds of these men. But the spirit to die a beautiful death and knowing they did their best circulates through the minds of these men as well. But serving their country and planting the flag at the top of a mountain means that they've served their country well

Over the valley

As I approached the Cathedral I bask in the Sheer size and Majesty of the church. I basked in the sheer size and feeling I overcame from just standing in front of it. The Cathedral standing before me had three bell towers. And one of them we had access to asscend to the top 195 feet above the ground. It was a chilly day but the sky made it look like a perfect postcard picture. As we asscended to the near top it got chilly. I looked out the windows and it was a long way down. I felt my legs trembling as if I had an earthquake in my legs. And finally after a long climb back down I knew I was back on Earth. And so We went into the catherdral through the main doors. My breathe was stolen immediately. Every where I looked I saw nothing but statues, Stained glass windows, Marble pillars, walls and flooring and rows upon rows of wooden benches. I sat on a bench and felt something magical. And then my family and I left. and we headed back to our car. As we were leaving the church bells wrung. It echoed out over the valley. As I heard it I remember seeing a hearse. And as I left one thought came to mind. For Whom the bells toll I thought. And Once I left wooded area that surrounded the cathedral I knew that many people have been scarred

Disposable Heroes

We all have heroes in our lives
As we look upon them we see the torch being passed
One to another
And so when once the hero of the day has passed on his dreams, wishes and legacy the hero is disposed of.
The hero marches to the front of the line and gets ready or the death of all his pocessions.
The heroes say their last words then crumble to the ground
And the process reapeats
But usually after the mourning and the funeral of the hero. THey're off to find a new hero, a hero of the day
One that shall see hope and prosperity and and the road of his life has been laid down in front of him

The world that we live in

We live in a world surrounded by two items. Hatred and knowledge. Both ways work the same way . Where those individuals that do not wish to not accept it choose not to. Reason being unknown. We've had 300 years of human conflict. Even in our daily lives we start conflicts over the littlest things like how we spill something on someone on accident not purpose. We are surrounded by hatred. And no one is takinjg action. We continue the way we are our fate is unknown
A clean well lighted place
In a dark corner in a café lurked an old man. The old man was drinking at a table that was bordered by a tree that had leaves cover the table in darkness. It was late at night and there were two waiters working. The old man stared blankly at nothing but the open air. He was drinking heavily like he was troubled. As the glasses started piling up one of the waiters a young waiter came over and said “its closing time” but the old man simply replied Another Brandy. His voice sounded with both demanding and despair. It was late at night the younger waiter wanted to go home. The older waiter questioned him and asked why he was in a hurry?
It was late at night the younger waiter impatient because it was late at night there was absolutely nobody in the café except for the old man who piles of drinking glasses in front of him. The younger waiter said that it was closing time and that the old man should leave. And so he did. He walked out of the bar unsteadily like a drunk person but with pride, dignity and honor. The old man use to have a wife said the younger waiter. She must’ve made him happy said the older waiter. Until she passed away that is.
The old man was lonely said the older waiter he needs a light. The younger waiter was growing angry with the older waiter due to the fact that he was in such a hurry he was ready to rocket out the door. The older waiter thought about the old man did he really have a wife that he loved so much but passed away? The older waiter was drawn into a state of curiosity. He kept thinking about the loneliness the old man felt and the same feeling he overcame. The old man locked up the café for the night and then went to a bar where the feeling grew stronger.
The older waiter started drinking his mind were filled with images of both the old man and himself. He knew that emptiness was filling him to the point of agony. He knew that he was himself and then the next minute he is gone. It took him a while to figure out how depression can lead you to do things such as drinking.

A clean well lighted place by Ernest Hemingway shows how one can vision themselves from the present to the future. The old waiter relates to the Old man for loneliness had a spouse and friends and possibly had friends. The old waiter shows that like the old man he has pride dignity and honor. Even though he ages everyday he knows that he might suffer the same fate like the old man

Okinawa

April First 1945 The major told us we were going to land on Okinawa. Most of us thought that we would die within a matter of seconds. We were wrong. It was the rain that destroy's our morale. Tanks are getting bogged down. We can't even get the wounded out.

April 24th 1945
We've just captured and secure a fortified Bunker that was dug in tight. Our tanks moved advanced but ended up being destroyed in the end. Navy core tells us we won't get supplies for days and weeks to come.

May 1945 Everything that's been asked of us we've done. Everynight we lay in a filthy foxhole praying the enemy won't slit our throats from a banzai charge. We spend day after day crawling through the mud while bullets from both forces whistle all around us. But this will be the last time we put our lives on the line when we take Shuri castle we go home all of us

Time

Time is in a constate of movement. It seems like there is no end to time. As the days slip by our time for anyone gets closer to an end. But we don't thiink about it at all. We just know that we move closer everyday. We'll just talk about the future and forget about the past. It'll always be with us it's never going to die. We all live on the edge of tomorrow. Cause we know that yesterday is over and gone. Yet we know we have to keep moving on. Because with everyday that passes time get closer to catching us.

Future Jobs

Future jobs

I really don’t know what my job is going to be. But I have a lot of choices. One is to work at the NWS in Sullivan Wisconsin. Another job I want to do would be a storm chaser where I would get to chase after Tornadoes and capture footage on a tornado. And some of my jobs won’t focus on weather I have some in geology and Geography. For Geography I want to be a cartographer which is a person who makes maps. The other one in geology is a surveyor which is a person who maps out the land in elevation etc. Finally my last jobs would be a professional bowler where I would go on tour and bowl in other states. Or be an architect
